Updates for Dystopia Rising Live (And Other Projects)

Today, we're reviewing updates for Dystopia Rising Live, and some other projects we've been working on at Most Improbable.

Today, we’re giving a general update on some of the projects we’ve been working on, which include Dystopia Rising Live. It looks like 2024 is going to be a big year for us in terms of releases, and we’re excited about what we have in store for you.

A Sneak Peak at the Cover

First of all, what is Dystopia Rising Live? This is a new system that’s been in development for about a year. We’ve been working closely with the Dystopia Rising licensing company during its creation, and it addresses a lot of issues present in their current system. In addition, it brings back a lot of the flavor from Dystopia Rising 2.0. It is, however, still in its beginning stages - so everything in it is subject to change.

With that being said, the network team has just spent 60+ days reviewing it and giving feedback for changes. Now, we’ll be releasing it to the owners who have signed contracts with the licensing company. Owners can then share it with their Directors, and we’ll have another review period.

After that, Dystopia Rising Live will be released to players for more review. During this time, various chapters will be doing playtests of the system as stress tests. We’re very excited to release this to everyone, and know that these review stages will result in an even better end result.

DR Live Information

Currently, Dystopia Rising Live is divided up into two books: The Player’s Guide, and the Guide’s Guide. Both will be fully accessible to players. However, players only need to read the Player’s Guide to actually play. By dividing things up, we hope to make the experience more approachable to new players who don’t necessarily want to dive into a thick book right off the bat to play. With that being said, if they want to get all the nitty gritty details immediately, they do have the option to read both books.

We’re also working with the licensing company to develop even more resources, including the following:

  • Grave Places - a book on the Mortis Amaranthine, history and timeline of The Fall, and Necrology

  • Strained Ancestry - a book that covers the Lineages, variants, and their culture in various areas.

  • Something to Believe In - a book on the Faiths of the post-apocalypse, including their subsects.

These books will be free and available to all so that it will be easier to learn more about the Dystopia Rising universe. The goal is to make sure Grave Places and Strained Ancestry are released at the same time as Dystopia Rising Live, so new players can look up lore and information about the world more easily.

Release Timeline

Because Dystopia Rising Live is still in the review process, there isn’t a firm release timeline. However, our goal is that players will have the ability to review it starting in late Spring of 2024. During Summer of 2024, Strained Ancestry and Grave Places will also be ready for launch.

In the meantime, we’re hard at work writing, editing, doing layout, getting feedback, and developing other items. We hope you’re as excited as we are for 2024. It looks like it’s going to be a great year for books!
